I’m back in Cascais, Portugal. This time it was a very spontaneous trip because our grandma sadly getting older very fast and its important to spent quality time here now. I have been spending a lot of time with her, but I also wanted to show you some snapshot of what I have been up to this week. I am also updating our Portugal guide, which will be up shortly!
The best morning walks
When I’m here I always start my days with a long morning walk. My favorite place to go is towards a place called Casa da Guia and back again, or walking at the Marginal by the ocean towards Estoril. It’s always so beautiful to see the ocean waves hit the mountain and the colors inspire me so much! It makes me want to move here.
Cute cafés
I also love walking around vising all the cute little cafes everywhere. Portuguese traditional food is not exactly very vegan, they love their pastries and fish but still you can find the best juices, fresh fruit, tasty veggies and more and more vegan options every year.
Eco-concious
They are also becoming a lot more eco-conscious here, especially when it comes to plastic. I love that most places only offer paper cups and straws now.
This fresh and green detox juice is from a a place called GreenWish in Cascais. They also have meals, raw cakes and lots of delicious stuff on their menu.
Surfing
So since Im here with my dad, I met up with a surf coach because I feel more comfortable in the water with someone who knows the place well. I had the best session and stayed in the ice cold water for over 2 hours.
Spending time with Grandma
The main reason I’m here is to spend time with my grandma. Her health has decreased a lot the past months, and she can’t do anything by herself anymore. I have been really sad about it but also I just know that it’s a natural part of life, and that the best thing we can do is to spend quality time together. I really wish I had her closer to me, but she loves Portugal (understandably) 🇵🇹
