Earlier in September we got a message from a company called DyrkOslo who asked if we wanted to check out their project - Airbnb for gardens!
The concept is simple
People who have a large garden, and who don’t have enough time to take care of it can rent it out to people without a garden who wants to have one. How cool is that?
They asked us where we lived, and found a garden that is pretty close, we can either walk for an hour-ish (a good Sunday walk) or take the tram. When we got there, we were met by the people from DyrkOslo and the people who live in the house that has the garden. They are 10 students living in a huge house with a gigantic garden, and they just figured that they wouldn’t have enough time to take care of it.
We got two large boxes, that the guys from DyrkOslo had picked up from some place that would have otherwise thrown them away (yay)! It’s called “Palledistributøren Alnabru” for those of you in the area. We filled the bottom with a special paper, and added 7 bags of soil and organic fertilizer.
We planted the small seeds - mesclun salad, spinach, another salad mix and radishes - plants that can grow even when its getting colder outside. Most importantly (haha) we talked nicely to them and put in a good intention for the plants.
Every week we are supposed to water the plants and check how its going (until now we have to admit we’ve only watered them once), and then we can gather the veggies in about a month after we planted them!
The second time we were there to water them, we picked up lots of apples, so there will be some delicious apple recipes coming your way - it’s definitely apple season 🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏
