We have a new shoe crush! We are the proud new owners of some super fresh New Movements sneakers. They are so cool, comfy, and produced with compassion for the environment.
New Movements is an Oslo-based shoe brand founded by Martin Evensen. We met Martin last year under the “30 under 30” event that we both were a part of. You can read the article about Martin here. He has a very interesting and strong story.
About the different components of the shoes
Sole - 80% recycled rubber, and 20% natural rubber. Free of plastic. New Movement soles are, as opposed to most other sneakers, made of recycled and natural rubber.
Leather - from a Gold-Certified tannery. The leather on New Movement shoes comes from the Italian supplier Mastrotto, which maintains environmental protocols for leather.
Laces - made of recycled plastic bottles. 2 bottles are renewed to make a pair of laces!
Insole - made of waste. They cut carbon emissions by renewing natural fibers in the insole.
Box & paper - FCS certified. The shoes are shipped in a recycled paper show box, and all the paper material is FCS-certified.
The sneakers are so comfy. They do take a few walks to “walk in”. After treating them with some leather protection, they are robust against dirt and stains, which can be washed off with a cloth. The shoes have such a solid feel about them, like they can last for years. They will be in good company for the years to come!
